This week I focused mostly on the UI.
Up until now, CalmSpace worked, but it still looked like a dev build. Things were functional, but not really polished. So I went through and cleaned up pretty much everything.
UI Revamp
I ended up revamping all the main screens.
The goal was just to make everything feel cleaner and more consistent. Better spacing, better layout, and just overall less clutter.
Nothing crazy feature-wise, but the difference is noticeable. It actually feels like a real app now instead of something thrown together.
Making It Feel More Put Together
A big part of this week was making sure everything matched across screens.
Before, different parts of the app felt slightly off from each other. Now it’s a lot more consistent with colors, fonts, and general layout.
It’s one of those things you don’t really notice when it’s done right, but you definitely feel it when it’s not.
Fixed the Visualizer
I also fixed up the visualizer.
It’s now working more reliably and looks a lot cleaner. Since it’s one of the main things you see while the app is running, it needed to feel smooth.
Feels Less Like a Prototype
This week kind of felt like a shift.
Before this, CalmSpace was clearly still in a rough prototype stage. Now it actually feels like something you could use.
Still a lot to do, especially with masking and audio, but this was an important step.
Next Week
Next week I’m going back to focusing on the core system again.
Main goal is improving the masking and getting it working better with the audio player.
Looking Ahead
Next month we’ll start user testing.
That’s going to be a challenge since I’m in Japan right now, so finding users to test with might take some extra effort. But it’s also the next big step for the project.
Getting real feedback will show what actually works and what still needs improvement.
Where It’s At
Right now CalmSpace:
- Has a much cleaner UI
- Feels more consistent across screens
- Has a working visualizer again
- Is getting closer to being ready for real users
Still early, but it’s definitely moving in the right direction.
